3.3°LWeyermann Vienna Malt is slightly more rich than a pilsner or pale malt - it leads with a touch of toastiness, honey and nuts. Functioning like a base malt, it imparts a deep golden color but is not sweet or heavy.
This is the malt that makes Märzens taste like Märzens, Vienna lagers taste like Vienna lagers, and Oktoberfest beers taste like they came from a proper tent in Munich. It brings a nice layer of crusty bread and light caramel that plays beautifully with noble hops.
Milled fresh day-of shipping. The Reinheitsgebot required barley to be fresh-milled before brewing (?). Well, it should have!
Why we love it:
- Use up to 100% for a robust German style - or a unique creation
- 20%+ usage boosts malt character when using light base malts
- Robust base malt, but not heavy
