9.0°LWeyermann Munich Malt Type 2 is the darker, richer German Munich — toasty, bready, and full of deep malt character with hints of caramel and crusty bread crust. It gives you that honest, flavorful malt backbone and can and will function like a base malt.
This is the malt you reach for when you want your lager to actually taste like deeper malt instead of just being neutral or grainy. Use it at 20–60% of the grist for extra depth, or go higher if you’re chasing big malty character in a doppelbock or Märzen.
Why we love it:
- Delivers rich toasty bread and light caramel notes without being cloying
- Gives beautiful deep golden to amber color naturally
- Excellent choice to help bring balance to hop-forward, bitter beers
