A natural filter aid used in all-grain brewing to help prevent stuck mashes and improve wort flow during lautering and sparging. Rice hulls are inert (they add no flavor or fermentables) and create small channels in the grain bed that allow wort to drain more freely.
Especially useful when brewing with high percentages of wheat, oats, rye, or other adjuncts that can make the mash sticky. Simply add them to your mash along with your grains.
Typical usage: 5–10% of your total grain bill by weight when needed.
