Storytime
Nectaron is a newer New Zealand hop released in 2020. Unlike some of the more traditional New Zealand varieties, it was specifically bred to deliver big, juicy tropical fruit character similar to popular American hops like Citra and Mosaic. It throws heavy passionfruit, peach, pineapple, and mango notes with less of the classic green, sharp, or herbal edge that older New Zealand hops are known for. Because of this, it behaves more like a modern American tropical hop than a traditional New Zealand one.

Practical Use
Nectaron shines in late boil, whirlpool, and dry hopping, where it brings big tropical fruit character. It’s quite potent, so it can easily take over a beer if you use too much. Most people find 2–4 oz total in 5 gallons works well for solid impact. Going heavier can make the fruit feel heavy or muddled, so it usually performs best when you give it some breathing room alongside other hops.
Brew day tip: It pairs especially well with Citra, Mosaic, or Galaxy when you want to push big, layered tropical fruit.
