Sierra Nevada Pale Ale Clone
This recipe is generally considered to be Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. The beer is not known to be dry hopped. However, American Pale Ales are often dry hopped and it would be a nice touch, though doing so will significantly alter the aromatics.

Base Malt Options
- Proximity ReGenMalt Pale: Highest kilned/darkest option.
- Root Shoot Genie Pale: Touch lighter. From a small CO maltster.
- Simpsons Maris Otter: Also lighter. Common English pale malt base.
Crystal Malts Options
- Proximity ReGenMalt Crystal 60: Recommended. Rounded caramel/toffee.
- Proximity ReGenMalt Crystal 45: Lighter & brighter sweetness.
- Proximity ReGenMalt Crystal 80: Darker/deeper sweetness. Some dark fruit/burnt sugar.
Hops
Cascade is the bittering, flavoring and aromatic hop on the base recipe.
SNPA is not known to be dry hopped. But this is homebrewing. To enhance the aromatics, 1-3 oz total of any combination of Cascade, Chinook, or Simcoe would support a beer brewed with Cascade well. Hops should only be "on" the beer for 3 days/72 hours, i.e. rack, bottle, or keg the beer within 72 hours of dry hopping.
Yeast
- Fermentis SafAle US-05: Clean and neutral dry American yeast.
- Omega West Coast Ale I: Clean and neutral liquid American yeast.
- Omega Pacific NW Ale: Neutral, but with added ester formation liquid yeast.
During cold weather, liquid yeast ships with the whole order and is +$8.50 more than dry yeast.
During warm weather, liquid yeast ships separately and for +$20 to cover faster shipping with an insulated mailer and ice pack.
