Where It Lives

  • Tropical & Citrus (primary home)
  • Stone Fruit & Berry (peach)

Storytime

Galaxy hops are (arguably) not from outerspace, but are actually agreed to be of Australian origin. Believe what you want. Galaxy emerged around 2010 and quickly became a favorite worldwide. It delivers some of the most intense tropical fruit character of any hop - often leaning into passionfruit, peach, and mango - with a bright, juicy quality that works especially well in modern IPAs. Known to have a pointed profile with less perception of spice, herbal, dank, etc.

Practical Use

Galaxy is a dual-purpose hop that can be used for bittering, but it really shines in late additions and dry hopping. It brings a ton of bright tropical and stone fruit character, and it plays well with other hops without completely taking over. A lot of brewers like using it alongside Citra or Mosaic to build more layers.

On the dry hop side, 3–5 oz total in 5 gallons is a common range for good impact in juicy IPAs. You can push higher if you want, but it tends to stay cleaner and more expressive when you don’t go completely overboard. It has enough punch on its own that it doesn’t always need massive rates to be noticed.

Best for: Late boil, whirlpool, and dry hopping. Brew day tip: It works great on its own or blended with other fruit-forward hops. If you’re going for a big tropical bomb, Galaxy is one of the stronger options out there.
